Active learning experience
As a computer science student, I have a lot of active learing experience. When I first time to write program, we will be asked to write code follow instructor’s steps. After that, we still need type code by ourselves and practice more cases. We also have lab for asking questions and write code. When I have questions, I will search online. There are many websites for helping programming, such as “stack overflow” and “github”.
In my thought, active learning must come with passive learning, and only when they come together, they can be the most effective. We should watch instructor to write code first, then we can write our own code. Passive learning is like a seed, help us to starting learning new knowledge. Active learning is helping us to get more familar with writing code.
Flipped Learning
Writing code and practicing at home, then discuss with classmates and ask TA in computer science lab are my favorite ways of studying programming. Learning programming takes a lot of time to practice and can have many questions. Therefore we should practice more cases with ourselves instead of during lecture time. Discuss my own thoughts about programming with classmates really help to study.
